FIFA 20 has finally been revealed, EA Sports has overhauled shooting, dribbling, and strategy in this year's video game, as well as some other tweaks that will make it more realistic. Here is the full list of new gameplay features, tips, and tricks:
Dynamic 1v1s
Built using the game tempo from the world's best leagues, an overhauled game flow offers more true-to-life spacing and pace of play, resulting in more 1 on 1 opportunity putting emphasis on user-controlled Decisive Moments.
This new feature will allow more attacking opportunities to get past your opponent, whilst also giving defenders a wider range of defending skills to win back the ball in 1v1 situations.
Defending in particular looks a lot more consistent and rewarding for performing a well-timed tackle, which is fantastic.
AI Defending Overhaul
An overhaul in the positioning and tackling system creates an environment for AI to better complement the user-controlled player. AI will offer intelligent defensive support, while rewarding and advantaging user defending.
Natural Player Motion
Experience more natural and realistic movement all over the pitch with innovations in player motion and positioning, creating realistic football movement for all players on the pitch.
Ball Physics
The ball physics have been redesigned in FIFA 20 to allow for the most realistic footballing experience yet!
To bring more authenticity to the beautiful game, rewrote the physics of the ball, replicating a football's real-life movement with pronounced bounces, spins, and trajectories.
The new Physics will make passes feel more realistic, adding spin and creating a natural curve with passes. Shot trajectories are also improved with the new Physics.
Football-Informed Motion
Realistic ball movement with more authentic spins and bounces creates a true-to-life match experience in FIFA 20.
New Shot Trajectories
Curling shots. Dipping free kicks. Knuckleballs. First-time rising strikes. All made possible by the new Ball Motion System in FIFA 20.
Strafe Dribbling
The new strafe dribble mechanic adds more dimension to attacking options; enabling you to move with more agility than ever to lure your opponent in before beating him with speed or skill.
Controlled Tackling
Take back possession with Active Touch Tackling and new animations that reward you for well-timed defensive play. The cleaner the tackle, the higher the likelihood of retaining possession of the ball.
Set Piece Rewrite
A new set-piece system will allow players to take more control over freekicks giving players an entirely new approach to set-piece play.
It looks like players will now get a circle to appear when taking set pieces, which will give them more control over exactly where they want the ball to go.
The new Free Kick System is divided into five aspects: Aim, Position, Power, Spin and Timing.
Aim: The first step was the new aiming mechanic.
Position: Instead of stepping slowly around the ball and moving to different start positions, pressing the Right-Stick to the left or right will now move the player between predefined positions (Wide, Normal, Straight).
Power: With shot elevation being determined by the aiming reticle, shot power now determines the shot trajectory.
Spin: After powering your shot, and during the run-up before contact, players can apply spin to the ball.
Timing: Players can also use the Timed Finishing mechanic in the new Free Kick system, allowing you to attempt to press the button right at the moment of the contact of the shot.
Composed Finishing
A gameplay feature that will allow attackers to be more clinical in front of goal.
More clinical finishing when one-on-one. More risk with volleys and long shots. Overhauled shooting creates more realism in front of the goal.
This appears to show players mostly finishing with the inside of their foot, so it looks like finesse shots are going to be a method of composed finishing, making finishing more consistent.
Timed Finishing
Timed finishing has been brought back in FIFA 20 and has been retouched and rebalanced which has made it more difficult to pull off. After powering up a shot, you will need to press O/B at the right time before the player actually takes the shot. This will cause you to take more consistent and accurate shots and increase your chances of scoring. This could be a huge advantage when taking shots from a distance so it would be worth practicing timed finishing.
With the new Authentic Game Flow, user-controlled Decisive Moments, and enhanced Ball Physics System, you'll be put at the center of the key moments in each match you play in FIFA 20.
